How does Google evaluate Paid Links?

Matt cutts revealed the logic behind paid links for a website. How can evaluate paid links with respect to google? Tips to follow for getting paid links.

What kind of relationship do Webmasters and Google share when it comes to backlinks? Webmasters always take the initiative of getting great backlinks that can contribute in better ranking of site, whereas Google always focus on identifying the paid links, which will finally help the search engine to rank the site.

But, to talk about paid links, what is the meaning of it and how does Google understand which link is actually paid or which is not? To give a thorough knowledge on this topic, Google’s Matt Cutts have come up with valuable information.

Some clearly identified paid links

There are some links that are easily identified as paid links. There are people who pay money to get link in order to ensure better ranking in search engine. In spite of taking clever steps by Webmasters, Google still has the ability to understand the links that are paid.

But, talking on this topic, Cutts also says that in case people do not pay liquid and take out the parties for a dinner or party with the idea of getting links, will it be considered to be a paid link?

1. Price determine the value
There are different kinds of products available and each of them comes in different price range. Therefore, things having high monetary value can surely be considered to be a way of getting links. Though Google is much more concerned about real money and do not much bother about things like someone buying a dinner for you and after four months you write a blog on his behalf.

2. Identifying loan or gift
How to identify whether any item is loaned for review or just it act as an outright gift? For example, if anyone has loaned a car to try out for week and someone gets a car as a gift, makes a huge difference. Loaning a highly expensive item can be a common practice, as there are not much of car bloggers available who would be able to look into all cars available for review and car companies will also be looking for publicity that is from reviews which can act as a marketing piece. Therefore, it can also be a way of getting paid links.

3. Understanding intention of audience
There are also intended audiences available. Though at first it is difficult to understand intent of people, but most of the time it is pretty obvious when someone is offering money to buy links. In case of free trail of product, the intention is not to get links in exchange, but to enhance the sale after the trial and then focus on word of mouth marketing strategy.
Suppose, anyone saying to offer a laptop for which he will definitely write a nice story for the site. This is the time when the intention is quite visible.

4. Expected compensation or surprise
If any movie reviewer is allowed to enter theatre to watch movie for free, then it is quite an obvious matter, but if a tech blog reporter says that he wants a laptop in order to cover news or article for a particular website, then it can certainly be a surprise.

Google also has the authority to take serious action against abusive techniques which can exploit trust of people. Therefore, before starting with link building, webmasters should be aware of FTC guidelines that explain about compensation.
